The Epidemiologist collects, maintains and analyzes health-related data to identify trends, potential outbreaks and public health prevention priorities among Salem and Cumberland county residents. The epidemiologist also works closely with the communicable disease staff to investigate disease outbreaks and ensure the accurate and timely reporting of infectious disease.

    The Public Health Emergency Notification Systems Coordinator for Salem County receives important  and current health information from the Centers for Disease Control and the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.  It is then the LINCS Coordinators job to distribute this information to agencies and organizations throughout the county.  Any agency or organization within Salem County who would like to be a member of the LINCS CHAIN.

Health Education/Risk Communication team plays a vital role in coordinating and educating the community. The Health Education Department initiates and/or responds to requests for education programs from schools, youth organizations, businesses, community groups, medical institutions and service organizations. The topics addressed include but are not limited to, public health preparedness, rabies, West Nile Virus, communicable diseases and radon.  Media efforts are also coordinated to publicize many of the departments programs and services and to communicate health concerns using radio, press releases, brochures, the internet, etc.   Presentations and Educational information provided upon request.

    The Partnership Coordinator is responsible for establishing and coordinating community partnerships for public health assessments, strategic planning and evaluations.

Community Public Health Partnership

The Cumberland and Salem County Departments of Health invite you to join a Community Public Health Partnership of hospitals, local businesses, organizations, and community members aimed at improving public health. Through the implementation of a strategic planning process called MAPP (Mobilizing Action through Partnership and Planning), partnership members will work together to prioritize local public health issues and identify viable resources for addressing them. 

The MAPP process facilitates the gathering of hospitals, local businesses, organizations and community members in a routine, structured setting with informal round-table discussions. A wide range of agencies and individuals contribute to the public’s health, making broad community interaction essential.
